Global Bird Enthusiasts, Get Ready for GOWS 2025 –And More!
Bird lovers around the world, mark your calendars—The Gouldian Online World Show (GOWS) 2025 is set to return this November! What began in 2021 during the pandemic has now grown into a much-anticipated international event, offering breeders a unique chance to compete and connect—without ever leaving home.
What is GOWS?
Founded by Ahmed Al Alawi, an engineer and passionate breeder from Bahrain, GOWS was launched in response to travel and gathering restrictions during COVID-19. The idea was simple but powerful: allow Gouldian Finch breeders worldwide to showcase their best birds
through an online platform. And it worked.
Now held every two years, the show lets breeders participate virtually from anywhere—no need to transport birds or worry about borders. All birds are judged by international experts using the NBvV’s detailed Gouldian finch standard!
What’s New for 2025?
In 2024 witnessed the world’s first ever zebra online show by standing on the GOWS footprint. This year, the excitement is expanding! Alongside GOWS, and ZOWS (Zebra Online World Show) another new show will debut:
Java Online World Show (JOWS) 2025
That’s right—Zebra Finch and Java Sparrow breeders will also have a dedicated global platform to show off their birds and connect with fellow enthusiasts. It’s a milestone moment for the online birding community.
How to Join the Fun:
Whether you’re a seasoned breeder or a curious newcomer, you’re welcome to participate. All you need is a good video of your birds, submitted online via the official show links (launching this September). A step-by-step illustrated manual will be available—automatically translatable to any language on your smart device.

Although every participant receives a personalized judge’s report with expert feedback, the top birds and breeders will also receive special awards (subject to sponsorship availability):
