A Lifelong Connection
From a young age, Franz Dahlheim felt a deep connection with animals — but it was exotic birds that truly captured his heart. His desire to provide the best possible care for his feathered companions was ever-present.
A journey to Australia became the turning point. Observing parrots in their natural environment revealed what they really ate, and when Franz compared this to the typical commercial bird food available, the deficiencies were shocking. From that day forward, he made it his mission to change the way we feed our birds.
Social Media – The Breakthrough
In 2020, Franz decided to share his discoveries and enthusiasm with the public. The perfect platform? Social media.
Within just a year and a half, his channel “Dein Papagei” (Your Parrot) became Europe’s largest online platform dedicated to exotic birds. Millions of people were drawn to the incredible diversity of parrots and began rethinking the way they fed and cared for their birds.
The Beginning of a Passion
Driven by curiosity, a thirst for knowledge, and a lifelong love for animals, Franz began breeding ornamental birds professionally in 2005. He started with the world’s favourite — the budgerigar — and gradually expanded to rarer parrot species, discovering an entire world of aviculture.
Years later, after months spent travelling across Australia observing wild parrots and parakeets, one truth became clear:
“The countless seed mixes we feed our birds simply don’t match their natural diet.”
